Aurora

Aurora Aksnes is a Norwegian singer and songwriter from Norway. Born in Stavanger on June 15th, 1996. She is professionally referred to as Aurora. Her name could be also stylized by the name AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. The singer has released two top-of-the-line covers Half the World Away by the band Oasis in a commercial for Christmas by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a keyboard in her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get work or for a passion however, as a chance to grow. Thus, she began her own compositions. She credits Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, along with Bjork for being among her inspirations. Her mother had told her the songs she wrote might not make her famous but instead to inspire people to realize the importance of their work and influence in the world, she started performing them publicly. At age 6, she began to play the piano. At age nine, she was writing music. The family did not have any idea about it until she was fourteen. Aurora was not a dream of her childhood. As she says, she just loves writing music. For her, music is the most effective means of communicating anything.
